{Recession... what recession?

Sam must think that we are rolling in it because unfortunately the above picture would have been a better use of our "cash stash."

This week I watched Sam grab a dollar bill off of the counter in the kitchen and high tail it to the office. Out of curiosity I followed. He went straight over to the shredder and proceeded to shred the one dollar bill! All of the sudden I got a pit in my stomach and went over to the drawer in the office where I kept a little stash of cash for babysitters, little emergencies, etc... well it was gone. All of it, gone! I lifted the lid on the shredder and found tiny bits of green bills mixed in with shredded bank statements and the like. An hour and a half later, I can only estimate that between $150 and $300 lay shredded in this little bowl. I think I might puzzle piece it back together and give it to him for graduation!

Oh Tags...you know what? That's what makes you such a great mother! You can see the humor in it. There's much more laughter ahead with that Samuel-son of yours...for sure! Lunch next week is on me! :)

I am laughing and terribly sick at the same time. The things kids do and don't even realize the damage they are doing while just having some fun. I am so sorry. I would definitely try to do the money puzzle!

Oh little $ammy!! I'm laughing and crying at the same time. More on the crying side, though.

So glad you nipped this one in the bud - imagine what could've happened if this had gone undiscovered until you emptied the shredder!

WOW! That's a bit worse than my 2 year old boys disasters of late!!!! I did have a friend this happened to she grabbed a half shredded $100 bill from her sons hands... well she sent it into the treasurer or something and got a new one?!? Don't really know the details, but you could look into it.

Oh my! This is so sad. Poor Sam may never live this one down. This is the story someone is going to tell for his graduation, mission farewell, wedding, golden anniversary, etc.

I am so sorry! Man, Genna would have been in time out for days...and I would have enjoyed the crying. I guess I'm a mean mom.

Tagan, this was just too good of a story! I had to share it with my family who is staying with us right now. My dad and Pete both were thinking that you can take it into the bank, or send it somewhere, and they'll replace it.....???? Don't know if it's true, but it's a hope!

Man, I'm just trying to figure out how you kept your cool when you figured out what was happening! You are an amazing mom! =]

Hey Tagan,

There is a government agency that deals with this problem, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing:

Grandma Gege called me laughing and I thought of a friend who lost a wad in a fire and recovered it through this agency!
Gee, between bears, squirrels and Sammy, your life is extra exciting!

Love your new family pics. xoxoxo

Felt sick for you while laughing at the antics of Sammie, then read Renee's response and thought what a great resourceful family you have.

I can't believe all the things you do girl, you are the Godess of crafts, I think it would be easier for you to answer the question "what can't you do?" because it would be a shorter answer! You are amazing! Wow, I would be in such much trouble if lauralynn shredded that much money! Good think you have such a good sense of humor!
